Electrolyte Drinks – Team Spidertech

We’re proud to announce a partnership with Pro Cycling team SpiderTech. They are being fueled by Herbalife electrolyte drinks.

The video clip above captured was during Stage 1 of the Amgen Tour of California on Sunday, when David Boily took the polka dot King of the Mountains jersey. He finished 2nd at the end of the tour.

Team SpiderTech is Canada’s first and only UCI-registered Professional Continental cycling team.  The team is led by Canadian cycling legend, Steve Bauer, who wore the Tour de France yellow jersey for a total of 14 days — five in 1988 and nine in 1990. Bauer’s goal is for the team to race in the Tour de France.

The team is targeting a number of World Tour races this year: The Tour de Suisse, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec and Grand Prix Cycliste de Montreal, as well as other top-tier events including Giro del Trentino, Tour of Turkey, USA Cycling National Championships, the Tour of Utah and the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

Zach Bell is spart of the team, who won a medal at the recent track world chanpionship.

Omnium Racing Requires A Blend Of Endurance And Power

Zachery Bell is a Canadian cyclist with a point to prove and he’s now even closer to reaching his dreams after taking silver in the recent track world championships in Melbourne, Australia.
Omnium cyclists like Zach capture the spirit of competition by tackling six distinct races that demonstrate their speed, strength and stamina. Omnium racing requires a exceptional blend of endurance and power as it takes an entire day to complete, and each individual race demands explosive acceleration. Keeping energy levels topped off is paramount as Zach has to be as fresh for the last race as he was for the first.

Zach is a great example of a man who has the focus and determination to view each part of his event as a whole and to use his brain as well as his power to keep on winning. After completing his Australian event, Zach was smiling when he told he was “one step closer to that London Gold today in the Omnium at the World Champs. Six grueling events made me happy for my Herbalife24 Rebuild Endurance – it kept me in the fight till the end.”

Zach talks about his performance here:

Jamie Shirlaw Wins Sheffrec CC Spring Road Race.

Jamie Shirlaw is young British rider who loves cycling as an integral member of ‘Team Herbalife Leisure Lakes Bikes’. He’s got a string of strong UK wins behind him and he recently secured a triumphant first place in the Sheffrec CC Spring Road Race.
Jamie is proof that success isn’t down to luck as he won this challenging South Yorkshire race last year too.

Working in harmony with his team, he jumped away from the main field early in the race, and managed to hold off the pack. With two laps to go, he was holding only 22” but he dug deep and his final sprint was beautifully timed. Proper fueling no doubt played a role in Jamie’s victory as riders in a breakaway can burn well over 1000 calories per hour, and without replacing those calories, that sort of effort is simply unsustainable.

The endurance needed to keep ahead of the pack and maintain his position throughout the race shows that Jamie’s one to watch in road racing.

Nutrition For Endurance Cycling

Ecuadorian mountain biker Karl Egloff has set a new course record and won the Chimborazo Extreme. Chimborazo is Ecuador’s highest peak and one of the most challenging courses in Latin America. If you get out of breath during your every day training, just think about what it takes to climb nearly 1000m over 65km to a finishing line, which is literally sitting in the clouds, at 4800m.

To uderstand the need for endurance nutrition take a look at what the athletes in this race went through to reach the finish line here:
